The images below are a subset of a current ten year project, a contemplation of Hook Mountain in Rockland County New York.
I make a daily pilgrimage to view the mountain from the west bank of the lake and on the two piers extending into the water.
The passing of years and seasons and daily weather create the colors and moods of the lake and mountain.
As an art student in NYC during the late sixties I was most influenced by Warhol’s multiples, restating the sameness, exposing the subtleties of difference.
As an art student in San Francisco during the seventies I focused on the segue from the psychedelic to the techno era with the primacy of electronic images.
As a creator of pictures, three influences are most salient: Ansel Adams’ prints of Yosemite, Cezanne’s studies of Mont Sainte-Victoire, and Hiroshige’s views of Mount Fuji.
These photographs are archival pigment prints on 17x22 paper with an image size of 15x20 inches.
